Red Flag Exercises at Nellis Air Force Base are among the best plane spotting events for military plane buffs. Was lucky enough to watch all the Red Flags held in 2009 and 2010. The pinnacle of it all was being able to join in on media day for Red Flag 10-4.

Some F-15 Strike Eagle photos finish out my list of my favorite active military jets. The Strike Eagle is, well, just beautiful. It’s big, bold, loud and fast. Everything you would want out of a front line fighter. For a history of the F-15 Strike Eagle visit Enjoy ! (clicking on a photo will take you to the full gallery)

Photos of the F/A-18 Hornet, the number two fighter on my list. Besides a nice and big target for photographers, the Hornet provides a lot of muscle for support of the ground forces. It’s the first aircraft to be designated a Fighter and Attack classification, which is why it’s the F/A-18 and not the F-18. Multi-role capability, high survivability, and maneuverability nearly off of the charts, you have to love the F/A-18 Hornet. Enjoy ! (clicking on the pictures will take you to the gallery)
