Las Vegas is so much more than the neon of the Strip or Fremont street. I will admit it took until my third trip to realize this. Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area is located a short drive from the Las Vegas Strip in Summerlin, Nevada. It’s more or less Red Rock Casino’s neighbor ! The park offers many, many photo ops as well as hiking, rock climbing, bird watching, biking and so much more.
The park has a scenic drive of 13 miles that winds through the splendid canyons of the Mojave Desert. There are many pull offs to get amazing photos of the area. Roughly half way through the drive is a magnificent view of the Las Vegas Valley, though it’s a bit easy to miss as it is not right in front you.
Next time you’re in Vegas and are looking for a few hours of calm down time between gaming sessions, be sure to check out Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area. It’s a trip well worth the short drive!
